SHORT BIO
Erlendur Sveinsson is an award winning filmmaker from Reykjavik, Iceland. He graduated from Columbia University School of the Arts in the summer of 2018 with an MFA in film directing. His short films Kanarí & Thick skin received back to back nominations as drama of the year at the Vimeo Staff pick awards & were selected to play at over 100 film festivals around the globe.
He is well known for his ambitious and unique music videos with notable artists such as Laufey, Aron Can, Víkingur Ólafsson and Ásgeir. His music video for Ásgeirs SNOWBLIND was awarded music video of the year at the Icelandic industry awards, stockfish, in 2023 and was selected for the prestigious music video category at Camera Image in Poland.
His music video work has segwayed him into the commercial space where he has worked with clients such as AstraZeneca, Bank of Iceland & 66 North.
Erlendur is a Fulbright scholar, a Berlinale talent campus alumni and was selected to attend Nordic Talents in 2019 and LES ARCS talent village.
He recently directed two episodes in season two of the scandi-noir series Black Sands for Glass River and is gearing up for his first feature length film.
